Background and Research Interests
Aaron graduated from Malawi College of Health Sciences with Diploma in Clinical Medicine, University of Malawi with Bachelor of Science majoring in Biology and minor nutrition, and MSc Human Nutrition from Michigan State University. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Human Nutrition and Certificate in Epidemiology. Aaron worked at Kamuzu Central Hospital (Teaching hospital) as a Clinical Officer (Physician Assistant) for 5 years before joining Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources as Lecturer in Clinical Nutrition in Malawi. He has published in the journal Nutrients. He has done outreach as part of a local expert team of researchers that collaborated with GOPA consultants of Germany and Westat, a US research firm that consulted on Feed The Future project in Malawi. Aaron’s current research interest is maternal and child health, particularly prenatal nutrition (micronutrients) and birth outcomes in adolescent girls and other vulnerable populations of reproductive age, with special interest on prevalence and determinants of neural tube defects in Malawi, for a healthier future generation.
