What is the shop.msu.edu website?

Where can I find the MSU Extension Bookstore on shop.msu.edu?
Once you log on to shop.msu.edu, click on “MSU Extension Bookstore” on the top right-hand tab and start shopping.
How do I open an account with the MSU Extension Bookstore at shop.msu.edu?
Go to shop.msu.edu.
Click on “My Account” at the top of the page.
Go to “New Customers” and click “Continue”.
Enter your email address and create a password. Click “Continue.”
Enter the rest of your contact information.
Call 517-432-1859 or 800-709-9195 to activate your account as an MSU Extension employee. Activating your account gives you access to MSU Extension discount pricing. Be prepared to provide your account information.
Click on “MSU Extension Bookstore” at the top of the page.
Add products to your cart and go through the checkout process.
Can I place an order without opening an account?
No — it is necessary to create an account before ordering, then contact shop.msu.edu at 517-432-1859 or 800-709-9195 to register your account as an Extension educator. You will then receive tax-exempt status, access to Extension educator-only items and discounted Extension pricing.
I already have an account with the MSU Extension Bookstore at shop.msu.edu. How do I order items?
If you already have already set up your account:
Go to shop.msu.edu.
Click on “My Account” at the top of the page.
Go to “Returning Customers”. Enter your email and password. Click “login”.
Click on “MSU Extension Bookstore” at the top of the page.

When will my order ship?
Orders typically ship in one to two business days.
Can I pick up my orders in person?
You may pick up orders in person at the shop.msu.edu fulfillment center at University Stores in the Angell Building, 166 Service Road on the MSU campus. You will be emailed as soon as your order is ready for pickup. Go to shop.msu.edu/aboutus.asp for store hours, phone numbers and directions.
Can I place an order in person at the MSU Extension Bookstore?
Yes, you can. Here’s how:
Whenever possible, preorder before pickup. (Large orders must be preordered before pickup).
Stop by the shop.msu.edu fulfillment center at University Stores in the Angell Building, 166 Service Road on the MSUcampus.
Fill out a two-part order form at the front desk. Be sure to include your information and your account number.
Wait while your order is processed and given to you.
Free PDFs—where do I get them? (Added February 2016)
Free PDFs are available only on the MSU Extension website for immediate download. This allows for quick access and easy downloads. Once you are on the site, type in the publication title or number to access it.
What types of PDFs are available at the MSU Extension bookstore? (Added February 2016)
Only PDFs with price tags are available at the bookstore. Downloadss are limited to one per customer per order.
I ordered a downloadable product. How do I access it?
A link will be sent to you with product information within 24 hours after checkout. To access the product link immediately, you can visit the “My Account” link at shop.msu.edu and click on “Review Orders/Track Packages” to access the download link.
I am the author of a publication—how long should I plan to have items at the MSU Extension bookstore? (Added February 2016)
The bookstore carries publications and products for educators and the public for their use and education. It is not a storage faciility. Product inventory at the bookstore should ideallly move within 12 to 24 months or quicker.
How do I get my item/publication hidden?
There are many reasons an author or staff would like to have their item/publication hidden. Please contact Fran Adelaja adelajaf@msu.edu who will guide you through this process.
How do you know an item/publication is hidden?
Author or staff can first search the Bookstore https://shop.msu.edu/ site for the interested publication. If author or staff is unable to find the publication, reach out to Fran Adelaja adelajaf@msu.edu to verify if the item/publication has been added to the Bookstore, is available or out-of-stock.
What does a hidden item mean?
A hidden item is an item/publication that an author or staff wants to restrict only to participants who register for their programing or for participants who attend a specific program/service.

What types of discount options do I get at the MSU Extension Bookstore as an educator?
Automatic 25 percent discount off item list price at the bookstore only—not on other items and sites at shop.msu.edu.
All prior volume discounts are discontinued for all clients of the bookstore effective March 1, 2016.
What types of discounts do I get for personal purchases (not for MSUE programming or services)?
None. For personal purchases, you are regarded as a member of the general public. There are no discounts for the general public at the MSU Extension bookstore.
What is the minimum pricing of items at the MSU Extension bookstore?
All publications and items at the bookstore are priced at a minimum of $1. The exceptions are items funded by restrictive grants that stipulate that the items are available for free for work-team programming. These include SNAP-Ed and FNEP items. Other exceptions are promotional items such as brochures, etc.
How is revenue distributed from the sales of my publication?
Revenue collected from the sale of each publication is allocated as follows:
40 percent to shop.msu.edu for bookstore product fulfillment, handling, marketing, etc.
20 percent to institutes and/or departments
40 percent to work teams and/or centers
This 20 percent and 40 percent institue/work-team distribution is based on the author’s primary institute assignment. If the author represents more than one institute, the fiscal officer for the lead institute will split the funds accordingly.
How do I obtain funding for publications at the MSU Extension bookstore?
Authors should obtain funding for publications from work teams, institute directors, departments or centers so that the publications are in line with work teams and ID deliverables.
The Materials Education Fund that funded some previous MSU Extension publications will no longer be available.
What if I elect not to comply with the MSU Extension bookstore policy?
All MSU Extension employees who have items for sale at the bookstore are expected to adhere to the MSU Extension bookstore policy. Those who elect to go outside the bookstore policy will be charged an additional 25 percent fulfillment cost. This fee will cover additional work incurred by the MSU Extension business office and will be pulled from the percentage of profit funds going to the work team.

I am shipping my product to a campus address. Are there any shipping fees?
If you are shipping to an on-campus address and you use an MSU account number, the shipping charges will show up on the order but will be waived by University Services before the account is charged — no shipping charges will be incurred. You will receive an updated invoice via email verifying that the shipping charges have been removed.
Will a receipt for my order be emailed to me?
Once you have paid for your order, a receipt for your order is sent to your email address.
Do I get a notification when my order has shipped?
Yes, an email is sent to you when your order has shipped as well as a link to track your package.
Can I track my shipment orders?
Yes. This information is found in the notice sent to you informing you that your order has shipped.
Why do I have a high shipping cost for my bulk orders?
Shop.msu.edu is designed for small package shipments. If you have a large bulk order to ship with shipping costs displaying over $100, please contact shop.msu.edu at 800-709-9195 before placing the order to arrange for your shipment to be sent via a specialty carrier at a lower cost.
How are returns handled?
Most items may be returned within 30 days of delivery for a full refund or exchange. Products must be sent back in new/unused condition with the original invoice. Perishable items, customized products and open CDs/DVDs cannot be returned. No shipping fees will be refunded. A refund or exchange will be issued within 10 days of receiving the returned merchandise.

I ordered hard copy materials, why do I have a PDF in my cart?
Some products have both PDF and hard-copy versions available for purchase. Click the red “x” to remove the incorrect PDF from your cart. Search for the product you wish to purchase and make sure to select “Hard Copy” from the Media Format drop-down menu.
How can I cancel my order?
Contact shop.msu.edu immediately via phone at 800-709-9195 or by email at shopmsu@msu.edu. If the order has not been shipped, it will be cancelled and you will be credited. If you receive the order and the items are in new/unused condition, return the order and you will be credited the cost of the items minus shipping costs.
I forgot my password.
Go to your account, click on “forgot your password” and then enter the email address that you use to sign into your account — a temporary password will be sent to you.
How can I change my account information?
Log on to your account and update your information under “Personal Information”.
