As the Fall semester wraps up, the MSU Department of Entomology is buzzing with exciting achievements and updates to share:

Celebrating Excellence:

    • Dr. Deb McCullough received the National Award for Excellence in Integrated Pest Management.
    • MSU students and faculty earned numerous accolades at the Entomological Society of America Annual Meeting.

Groundbreaking Research:

    • Dr. Julianna Wilson is developing yeast-based biopesticides to combat the invasive spotted-wing drosophila.
    • MSU alumnus Dr. Scott Shaw co-discovered the first parasitoid wasp species that parasitizes adult flies.
    • Global Outreach:
    • Sarah Smith led workshops in Southeast Asia on bark and ambrosia beetles, training international participants.

Welcoming New Faces:

    • Dr. Andrea Glassmire will join MSU as an Assistant Professor in January 2025.
    • Sheila Babbitt has joined the department as the Communications Manager, supporting key programs.

Exciting Opportunities:

    • Registration is open for the 2024-2025 academic year theme, "Embracing Diversity."

Congratulations to Our Graduates:

    • Undergraduate and graduate students will be honored at Fall Commencement on December 14, 2024.
