Biography
Dr. Jiyoon Yi's research program focuses on developing AI-driven solutions to advance sustainable food systems. Her team, comprising biosystems engineers and data scientists, is currently working on: 1) predictive modeling of soil health and pathogen dynamics through microbial community interactions and machine learning-based imputation of field data; 2) combining high-quality data collection using hyperspectral microscopy with custom AI architectures to enable rapid pathogen detection and broaden accessibility through domain adaptation across other imaging modalities; and 3) generating synthetic microbial and cellular data by capturing characteristic physiological signals amidst environmental noise and stress responses in diverse food processing and agricultural environments.
