Ted R. Cook
Teddy R. Cook is a teaching specialist for the Landscape Architecture Program in the School of Planning, Design and Construction, and operates a private practice business. He advises the MSU Student chapter of Landscape Architecture as well as the liaison for the Landscape Architecture Alumni Board. Prior to coming to MSU, he was part of a firm focused on the redevelopment of Detroit with a specialty in helping historically underserved communities.
Over the past 30 years, Ted has held numerous positions around the globe. More notably serving in the United States Air Force as a Munitions Systems Specialist and as Military Technology Instructor until his retirement after 22 yrs. His journey afforded him the opportunity to live in 8 countries around the globe with the majority of his experience in Asia and Europe. The experience of being fully immersed in international topography, architecture and culture prepared him extremely well for a career in Landscape Architecture. In Private practice he has helped to develop sites in 4 states and 2 countries, ranging from the desert environments of the southwest to the tropical climate of southern Florida.
His teaching and research interests include brownfield rehabilitation, re-development of underutilized sites and environmental preservation. He also specializes in the use of emerging technology to find diverse solutions and progress the design process in a new virtual environment.
He earned his Master of Science in Environmental Design from Michigan State University and his Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from Michigan State University.
