Dr. Thomas Loch
Background:
After growing up around the waters of Traverse City, Michigan, it’s no surprise that I’ve developed a fondness and appreciation for the health of our water and the aquatic life therein. Pursuing this enjoyment of the natural world led me to study Fisheries and Wildlife at Michigan State University for my undergraduate education. My B.S. studies cultivated an interest in fish and wildlife disease. My interests were further focused down to aquatic animal disease as a result of an independent study in my final semester of undergraduate education that concentrated on the reportability of finfish pathogens within the United States. I will be continuing to pursue my interest in finfish pathogens and work towards a M.S. degree as a part of the Aquatic Animal Health Laboratory through researching the causative agent of bacterial cold water disease, Flavobacterium psychrophilum.
