Aswad received his Ph.D. from the Department of Community Sustainability in Sustainable Tourism and Protected Area Management Program at Michigan State University in 2019. Under the guidance of Dr. Vander Stoep, his graduate research focused on aspects relating to the needs and challenges of persons with disabilities in Malaysia with regard to their outdoor recreation participation. He is currently working as Senior Lecturer at the Department of Nature Parks and Recreation, Universiti Putra Malaysia. Aswad has a strong interest in outdoor activities in general and believes that his passion in nature guiding and interpretation may be put to use in promoting awareness of the better use of natural resources. He aspires to promote the benefits of outdoor recreation and advocates for inclusive and accessible outdoor recreation opportunities for diverse individuals and communities.
