Emily Pomeranz
Background:
Meghan holds a B.A. in both Environmental Studies and Sustainability and International Relations from MSU, where she completed a senior thesis on climate migration to protected areas and authored a journal publication on the implications of gender intersectionality on climate adaptation in small-scale coastal fisheries. Meghan has also worked with MSU’s Apiculture Extension to care for honeybee hives on campus and teach beekeeping classes to the local community, as well as with Mississippi State University’s Wildlife Extension to teach the Master Naturalist course and research municipal resources for and responses to human-wildlife conflict. Currently, Meghan is currently pursuing an M.S. in Fisheries and Wildlife at MSU working under the guidance of Dr. Emily Pomeranz. Her research centers on landowner attitudes and perceptions of wetlands, water quality, and conservation practices in accordance with a large-scale wetland restoration project in the Western Lake Erie Basin, through which she aims to better understand the motivations and barriers to engagement in private lands conservation efforts.
