Charitha Jayani Gamlath PahalaGallath Rallage, Ph.D.
Charitha’s research involves assessing the risks of food borne heavy metals and aflatoxins, and developing strategies to mitigate the health burden of food borne illnesses. She gained her Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from University of Melbourne, Australia and her BSc. in Chemical and Process Engineering from University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. Charitha enjoys putting her quantitative and laboratory skills to use, to assess the state of food safety and nutrition, and to develop nutritionally enriched food products. Prior to joining Michigan State University, she worked as a research and teaching associate in University of Melbourne and as a faculty member in University of Peradeniya.
