Alexandria Walus, MS
I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Biology/Zoology with a minor in
Marine Ecosystem Management from Michigan State in 2018. During my undergraduate
career, I studied trait differences in prairie seed sources at Kellogg Biological Station. I
also spent a summer researching the effect of marsh zonation on amphipod distribution
at Marine Biological Laboratory. To wrap up my undergraduate career, I was a student
on the inaugural study abroad to Cape Eleuthera Institute in the Bahamas. While there I
participated in research on sea turtles and mangrove ecosystems. This is where I will be
conducting a majority of my thesis research in the coming years on the stone crab
fishery. For the past year I worked as a research assistant in the College of Education.
While not working or doing research, I enjoy traveling, hiking, camping, SCUBA diving,
working out, and coaching lacrosse at East Lansing High School.
