Team members from the Forest + Climate Visualization Partnership (FCVP) hosted a Breakthrough Session, “Imagining urban forest restoration,” using virtual reality technology to demonstrate forest-climate interactions.
Team members from the Forest + Climate Visualization Partnership (FCVP), a collaboration between FCCP and SUNY ESF, hosted a Breakthrough Session at the 2023 TED Countdown Summit in Detroit, Michigan on June 12th. Daphna Gadoth (FCCP), Lauren Cooper (FCCP), Aidan Ackerman (SUNY ESF), and Sara Constantineau (SUNY ESF), showcased three virtual-reality experiences developed by the partnership to educate users on forest-climate interactions and practical applications of the visualization technology.
Uniting over 40 speakers from various corners of the globe, the Summit served as a platform for global innovators, business executives, scientists, policymakers, activists, artists, and others to collaborate, discuss, and strategize on tackling the pressing climate crisis. The FCVP Breakthrough Session, “Imagining urban forest restoration,” allowed attendees to experience ultra-realistic, highly immersive forest landscape scenarios using virtual and augmented reality technologies.
