WASHINGTON, D.C. – The 9th American Forest Congress Steering Committee is excited to announce nominations are now being accepted for the Ninth American Forest Congress, to be held July 15–18, 2025, at the Omni Shoreham in Washington, D.C. FCCP director, Dr. Chad Papa, joined the Ninth American Forest Congress steering committee as a member of the reforestation working group alongside Dr. Emily Silver, associate professor MSU Department of Forestry, and Sandra Lupien, director of MassTimber@MSU.

For more than a century, the American Forest Congress has helped shape the future of forest conservation and management in the United States, leading to outcomes such as the creation of the U.S. Forest Service, the establishment of eastern National Forests, and the growth of community-based forestry.

This year’s theme, Healthy Forests and Thriving Communities, focuses on co-creating solutions to the unprecedented challenges facing our forests and communities. Amidst wildfires, a changing climate and other stressors, the Congress aims to build consensus on new approaches to keeping forests resilient and productive. Bringing together over 500 forestry professionals, community leaders, policy makers, and cross-sector partners, the Congress will chart a unified course for the future.

Visit www.forestcongress.org for event details and to submit your nominations.

We hope you’ll join us as we work together to build a new stewardship ethic for America’s forests and communities.
