Join Organic Seed Alliance and regional seed enthusiasts on Saturday, December 14th for the 2024 Midwest Organic Seed Summit. The summit will bring together experienced and prospective organic producers to learn from each other, connect on a personal level, and identify opportunities to advance the organic seed system in the Midwest region.
This event will center peer-to-peer learning, where experienced organic farmers can share their perspectives and knowledge with each other and with growers considering organic certification. There will be an opportunity to discuss strategies for transitioning to organic production and maintaining certification, as well as issues regarding organic supply chains, workforce development, and production challenges.
Topics to be discussed will include foundations of seed saving, variety trialing, on-farm plant breeding, and sourcing organic seeds. There is no cost to attend, but registration is required. Spots are limited, so please only register if you plan on attending. Refreshments and lunch will be provided. Financial assistance is available to support participation and offset travel costs; please email Michael Lordon (michael@seedalliance.org) for details.
