Junior MANRRS

Why Join Jr MANRRS?

The Junior MANRRS Program is designed to inspire students to pursue a career in science, technology, engineering, agricultural, and mathematics fields, or STEAM.

The objective is to encourage students in grades 7–12 to attend college and pursue agriculture, natural resources, and environmental sciences degrees.

2024 Jr MANRRS Symposium

This year’s two-day Leadership Symposium focused on the subject areas of science, technology, engineering, agriculture, and mathematics (STEAM) and development of leadership skills. Interactive workshops, a career opportunity fair, and general sessions all gave students the opportunity to explore future career and academic paths, in addition to gaining skills developing them both personally and professionally. Engaging workshops were provided by the following CANR departments, MSU Extension institutes and presenters: Kayla Young (MSU Packaging), Langston University MANRRS, University of Kentucky MANRRS, Michigan State University MANRRS, CANR Department of Agricultural, Food, and Resource Economics (AFRE), Entomology, Fisheries and Wildlife, School of Packaging, Kellogg Biological Station, Michigan Vaccine Program, MSU College of Veterinary Medicine, National MANRRS and MSU Collegiate MANRRS chapter.

Signature to the program, youth also had the opportunity to participate in the three contests of essay writing, impromptu public speaking. Monetary prizes were awarded to the first, second and third place winners were awarded prizes such Bluetooth speakers, cloud pillow and sherpa blanket. A total of 21 outstanding youth participated in this year’s contests.

We are very proud of the achievements of each student and would like to thank their leaders for exposing the youth to an amazing leadership event and opportunity. This institute would not be possible if it were not for the leadership giving the youth the opportunity to explore and be exposed to the opportunities that we have to offer at Michigan State University, College of Agriculture and Natural Resources.
