Every Thanksgiving, Cranberries make their way to tables across the country, but this tart and versatile fruit can be eaten in a variety of ways throughout the year! Cranberries are a good source of vitamin C and are high in antioxidants. Cranberries can be purchased fresh, frozen, or dried. In Michigan, cranberry season is September through November, but frozen and dried cranberries are available year-round.
Facts about Michigan Cranberries:
- Cranberries are grown in the Upper Peninsula, lower part of the northern peninsula, and Southwest Michigan
- When it’s time to harvest cranberries, farmers flood their fields. Then, the berries float right off the vine!
- Cranberries are one of the few fruits that are native to North America.
