Project Planning and Budgeting for Grants Webinar: What You Need to Know – Resource Sheet

This resource sheet for the Project Planning and Budgeting for Grants webinar from the Great Lakes Midwest Regional Food Business Center will help farmers, Indigenous producers, and food business owners to develop the materials necessary for grant applications using a four-step process. The resource includes steps to creating a project plan and budget, key takeaways from the webinar, and resources to assist with the grant application process. 

Featured webinar speaker, Andy Larson, Farm Outreach Specialist, Food Finance Institute at University of Wisconsin System, shared how developing a project plan and budget may help attract funders. He also offered insights on how project budgets intersect with planning. He joined Julie Jesmer and Jamie Rahrig of the MSU Center for Regional Food Systems and the Great Lakes Midwest Regional Food Business Center who shared more about the upcoming Business Builder grant opportunities.  

This webinar took place on October 3, 2024 as part of the What you Need to Know Webinar series.

Grant funding, provided by the USDA, will be available across the Great Lakes Midwest starting in late 2024. This includes the first phase of the Business Builder grant program for food and/or farm businesses in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Wisconsin. Over $10 million dollars will be distributed to technical assistance providers and eligible business owners over the next four years.
