Garland P. Wood, Professor Emeritus, in the Department of Agricultural, Food, and Resource Economics at Michigan State University. Garland Wood was born in Iowa April 21, 1922. From 1943 to 1946 he served in the military rising from Private to First Lieutenant. He then earned B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Wisconsin.

From 1957 through 1985 he served on the Agricultural Economics faculty of Michigan State University. He completed a number of overseas assignments with the University or while on leave. He developed and taught courses in Administration related to agriculture for graduate students planning to work in developing countries. His Extension activities focused on public policy on taxation and water issues.

In retirement years he and Jean lived in Pagosa Springs, Colorado. He died May 14, 2006. Survivors include his wife, Jean, their children and grandchildren.
