Lisa Chong, Ph.D.
Background:
Lisa grew up in New Jersey. She received a B.S. in Marine Vertebrate Biology at the State University of New York at Stony Brook in 2016 and M.S. in International Studies in Aquatic Tropical Ecology at the Universität Bremen in Germany in 2018. She completed a Ph.D. in Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences at the University of Florida in 2023.
Research:
Lisa is a quantitative fisheries scientist. The core of her research is the application of quantitative methods and tools to 1) evaluate the effectiveness of stock assessment tools and management strategies, 2) examine the interactions between ecological and social systems within fisheries systems, and 3) explore how to manage fish populations in the face of evolving conditions. Currently, she is working on methodology for age-structured stock assessments used in the 1836/1842 Treaty Waters of the Great Lakes and Lake Erie.
