Kristin Havelka is a Michigan State University Extension 4-H program coordinator in Menominee County in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.  She has served in this role since 2016.

In her role as 4-H coordinator, Kristin provides leadership and management of local 4-H programs, volunteers, and youth participants in Menominee County.  She promotes and strengthens the Menominee County 4-H program by developing programs and partnership, promoting and evaluating 4-H programs and recruiting and training volunteers.  Kristin is also the liaison from the state 4-H office to help ensure that statewide opportunities and information is available to local participants.

Kristin grew up in the Menominee County 4-H program.  She participated in the following projects: horse, beef, sheep, hog, sewing, photography, public speaking, and leadership.  The highlight of her 4-H career was winning the Michigan 4-H State Award in Achievement.  Kristin raised three children in the Menominee County 4-H program, and now has moved onto a granddaughter as a member.

Before joining MSU Extension, Kristin attended MSU’s Veterinary Technology program.  At the time of her schooling, it was a joint program between MSU and Lansing Community College, where she earned an associate degree.  Kristin and her family own a dairy farm in Menominee County.
