John Sullivan
John has been an Extension Program Instructor at Michigan State University Extension since January 2024. He has a Master of Science in Adult Learning and Continuing Education from Kansas State University. Prior to joining MSU Extension, John worked as the Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) Senior Army Instructor for Houghton High School in Houghton, Michigan.
John retired from the U.S. Army in 2015 at the rank of Major. He served from August 1986 until August 2015. He served as an enlisted Soldier and as an Officer. John has held leadership positions ranging from Squad Leader up through Battalion Executive Officer. He has attended multiple military leadership schools and worked with all branches of the Military.
John is a Military Veteran Program Instructor based in Houghton County. He Promotes SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits to military veterans and their families throughout Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. He also helps veterans connect with extension resources as well as other veteran resources in the community.
