Background:

I was a research technician in the landscape entomology lab at MSU for seven years working with common insect pests in the greenhouse and on golf courses. My M.S. research focused on the host range of a microsporidian pathogen of the Japanese Beetle. I helped develop a new pathogen detection method for the microsporidian Ovavesicula popilliae and was the first researcher to discover the pathogen could infect more than just the Japanese Beetle. I am joining the Walker/Tsao lab working with black-legged ticks, mosquitoes, and arthropod-borne diseases. In my free time, you can find me on the volleyball court, walking trails near my house, or on the couch with my nose in a book.
