Brenden Kelley serves as the MSU Extension Agriculture Water Use Efficiency and Irrigation Educator in Mason County, covering the western region of Michigan. His work focuses on increasing water use efficiency in irrigation through the adoption of advanced water management strategies and technologies. By implementing irrigation scheduling tools, evaluating irrigation systems and monitoring soil moisture, Brenden aims to optimize water usage, reduce waste and improve crop yields. His position has an emphasis on vegetable and fruit crop irrigation and can be extended to topics related to improving agricultural water use efficiency.

He holds one BSc in Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering and a second BSc in Forestry from Michigan State University. He also has a MSc in Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering with a specialization in Environmental applications from Michigan State University. While completing his master’s he studied the impact of several irrigation practices on yield-based water use efficiency, working with those at the Michigan State University Irrigation lab.
