Biographical Information

Richard H. Bernsten, Professor Emeritus, in the Department of Agricultural, Food, and Resource Economics at Michigan State University.  After serving in the Peace Corps in Sierra Leone, Rick attended the University of Illinois where he specialized in international development.  Prior to coming to MSU in 1985, he worked for the International Rice Research Institute and Winrock International.  Professor Bernsten taught development-related undergraduate (EEP 260: World Food, Population and Poverty) and graduate (AEC 874: Data Collection and Analysis in Developing Countries) courses, advised graduate students, and coordinated socioeconomic research in Latin America.  He was faculty advisor for a number of years for the Philippine Study Abroad Program.
