Two CSUS PhD Students Receive Future Leaders Forum Fellowship
Two CSUS PhD students were selected as recipients of a fellowship from the Future Leaders Forum, which is administered by the Association for International Agriculture and Rural Development (AIARD). The fellowship program receives numerous applicants from domestic and foreign universities, and this year, doctoral students Thany Hour and Timothy Silberg were among the twelve recipients selected for the program. Fellowships are awarded on a competitive basis to students who have a sincere interest in international agriculture and rural development issues and their solutions. The fellowship is designed to nurture and to provide support to students attending the AIARD Annual Conference and the annual Future Leaders Forum in Washington, D.C. These fellowships are intended to enhance the students' understanding and appreciation of issues and opportunities in international agriculture and rural development. During their visit to Washington, Thany and Timothy will meet with numerous rural development professionals working in the international agriculture arena, including the UN Food and Agriculture Organization, USAID, and USDA Foreign Agriculture Service. Both students will also have an opportunity to present posters of their research, and to represent the Department’s interdisciplinary foundation for addressing contemporary issues of sustainability in agriculture
