MSU Extension announces spring kick-off meeting for hop growers April 17
Kick-off the 2025 hop growing season in style with MSU Extension with an informative Zoom meeting to kick off the hop growing season on April 17, 2025.
Michigan State University Extension will host an interactive Hop Kickoff Zoom meeting on April 17, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. -12:30 pm. Registration is free but required.

Presenters will discuss updates to the MSU Hop Management Guide, fertility, disease and more:
- Hop Disease ID and Control, Tim Miles, MSU
- MSU Plant and Pest Diagnostic Lab Services and Weed ID and Control, Erin Hill, MSU
- Hop fertility management, TBD
- Hop Integrated Pest Management, Erin Lizotte, MSU
- Season activities, Rick Kawalski, Hop Head Farms
There will also be an update from the Hop Growers of Michigan. RUP credits will be available.
This kickoff will be followed by a biweekly Hop Chat Series that will begin May 15, 2025. These informal twice monthly sessions will include weather, crop and pest updates from MSU Extension’s Rob Sirrine and Erin Lizotte. In addition, MSU faculty and specialists will drop in to address timely issues and provide research project updates. The MSU Hop Chat Series will begin Thursday, May 15 at 12 p.m. EST and run every other week through August 7.
