RUP and CCA credits to be offered at MSU Agriculture Innovation Day
Restricted Use Pesticide (RUP) and Certified Crop Advisor (CCA) credits will be offered at MSU Agriculture Innovation Day: Focus on Forages and the Future.
Restricted Use Pesticide (RUP) and Certified Crop Adviser (CCA) credits will be offered at the second annual MSU Agriculture Innovation Day: Focus on Forages and the Future on Aug. 24, 2017, at the Lake City Research Center in Lake City, Michigan.
Thanks to the Recertification by Training Meeting Attendance Program, developed by Michigan State University Extension and the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD) nearly 30 years ago, farmers and agribusiness professionals can earn these types of credits by attending an educational field day such as MSU Agriculture Innovation Day. RUP licenses are required to be renewed every three years. CCAs are required to earn continuing education credits to maintain their certification.
“We want to make it easy for farmers to earn these credits,” Marilyn Thelen, MSU Extension educator, said. “For those in this business, Agriculture Innovation Day is the perfect opportunity to maintain a professional license or certification.”
Earning RUP and CCA credits are just one component of MSU Agriculture Innovation Day: Focus on Forages and the Future. The all-day program on Aug. 24 from 12:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. will provide opportunities to learn about the latest research on silage production, double cropping, reduced-lignin alfalfa, baleage and grass-fed beef, among other topics. MSU Agriculture Innovation Day is an annual event focusing on in-depth education on critical topics. The event rotates to various locations throughout the state to give farmers access to experts who can help them improve their businesses while maintaining environmentally sound practices on their farms.
