Your 4-H career makes you eligible to pursue scholarships at MSU
Take advantage of your 4-H career and apply for scholarships to MSU.
It’s your senior year of high school. Amidst all the fun and excitement this year will bring, take some time to consider how your past can help your future. Your 4-H career makes you eligible to pursue funding for your college education, especially if you are applying to Michigan State University. Michigan 4-H youth participants have the unique privilege of applying for numerous MSU scholarships as a result of their participation in the Michigan 4-H Youth Development program.
Active 4-H seniors can apply for the MSU 4-H Scholarship. A minimum of four scholarships are given each year. If awarded this scholarship, students receive $2,500 annually for four consecutive years of full-time study at MSU. 4-H members who are high school seniors must apply to MSU and submit the MSU 4-H Scholarship Application by November 1 of their senior year. Applicants must meet the standard admissions requirements of the university and be accepted to MSU.
Applying for this should be done early in your senior year. The MSU Online Freshman Application for Admissions provides you with admission criteria, dates and deadlines, SAT and ACT information and a checklist of everything you will need to apply as a first-year student. In addition, your county 4-H staff member must complete the recommendation section of your scholarship application. Ensure they have time to do this by informing them now that you are applying. It is suggested you get your application to them by mid-October.
Prospective freshman students should submit an online application as soon as possible in their senior year of high school and by Nov. 1 for maximum scholarship consideration. The application process may take 8 - 12 weeks after all application materials are received. Take the initiative, capitalize on this opportunity!
Your 4-H career has given you the background you need to complete both the admissions and scholarship application. Michigan State University Extension reminds you that your 4-H portfolio can be a great tool to help you in this process, too!
