Petting cows and calves at the DCTRC
Cow petting events help ease stress and bring community closer.
The Dairy Cattle Teaching and Research Center hosted an open house on March 24 and welcomed over 600 visitors to de-stress by interacting with cows and calves. Future events are planned for April 21 and May 19.

Additionally, an article in Michigan Farmer, Animals help sooth hearts, featured the outreach events at the MSU horse and dairy farms following the campus shooting last month.
Previously, South Campus Animal Farms saw over 1,000 people through February attending community building and de-stressing events. At the outreach events, visitors were able to brush horses and feed them carrots, brush mature cows and pet the calves and lambs. These events brought a smile to the face of so many, both volunteers and visitors!
