Conservation Stewards Program now registering for 4 new cohort locations in 2024

The Michigan Conservation Stewards Program offers 8 weeks of instruction delivered between September and November 2024, including weekly online course content, in-person lectures, field instruction, and more.

Michigan State University Extension’s Conservation Stewards Program (CSP) is now enrolling participants for its Fall 2024 programs, which will span 8 weeks beginning the week of September 9 and running through the week of November 11. In 2024, CSP will be offered across 4 new cohort locations, along with the first CSP cohort to be hosted in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula in program history. Cohort locations and days of instruction include:

During each week of instruction, this hybrid program combines virtual, self-paced lessons with in-person evening sessions at unique locations and natural areas within each cohort’s region. Additionally, 2 Saturday in-person field trips within each cohort’s region will take place, along with participants completing applied capstone projects related to restoring and conserving Michigan’s ecosystems, with guidance provided by a local mentor.

About the Michigan Conservation Stewards Program

The Michigan Conservation Stewards Program is an educational program for adult learners offered by Michigan State University Extension and collaboratively planned with many diverse partner organizations. CSP is geared toward those who are enthusiastic about learning science-based ecosystem management principles and sharing this knowledge with others to help improve their local communities.
