Early season weed control discussion at MSU Extension Virtual Breakfast
The 2025 Virtual Breakfast Series kicks off the series on March 27 with a discussion on early season weed control with MSU professor and specialist Christy Sprague.
Join the MSU Extension 2025 Virtual Breakfast Series kick off on Thursday March 27 with a discussion on early season weed control. Christy Sprague is a Professor at Michigan State University and is an expert in integrated weed management in soybean, wheat, dry beans and sugarbeets. As spring temperatures get warmer, early-season weed control will be an important component to starting the field season right. This session will highlight the benefits of early-season weed control, key management strategies and the biggest limitations in controlling these weeds. We will also cover precautions and strategies for terminating cover crops and managing weeds in winter wheat. Immediately following the discussion on early season weed control, Jeff Andresen, MSU Climatologist will give a detailed weather report.
The MSU Extension field crops team Virtual Breakfast sessions are held every week during the growing season via Zoom video or phone conference. These virtual meetings take place every Thursday morning from 7:00 – 7:35 a.m. ET, March through September 2025. The Virtual Breakfast Series is flexible, fluid, and able to adapt when issues arise due to unforeseen growing conditions. There will be an open 25-minute Q & A session following the presentations with MSU specialists and educators. Participants are encouraged to log into the Zoom link five minutes prior to the start time for a tech check and receive announcements.
Participating is easy and free! You can join the live meeting via Zoom using a computer, tablet, mobile device, or regular phone line. If you are new to Zoom, simply download the Zoom app and you will be ready to join online every week to see visuals shared by presenters.
