Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering (BAE) alumnus Larry P. Walker, Ph.D., is a true philanthropist giving back his time, talent and treasure to advance Michigan State University (MSU).
Walker has earned three degrees from MSU: a bachelor's in physics, and both master's and Ph.D. degrees in agricultural engineering becoming the second Black American in the University's history to earn a Ph.D. in agricultural engineering. He also studied biochemistry, molecular biology and biochemical engineering at Purdue University.
A retired Cornell University professor, Walker spent his career at the forefront of agricultural-based bioindustry research and development. Following a short stint with the Tennessee Valley Authority as a process engineer, he joined Cornell in 1979 and retired from there as a full-time professor and director of the Biofuels Research Laboratory in June 2015.
Ultimately, Walker describes himself as an engineer working to solve agricultural and sustainable human development problems.
