Daphna Gadoth Attends Michigan Society of American Foresters Fall Meeting

Daphna Gadoth, Senior Research Assistant for FCCP, attended the Fall 2023 Michigan Society of American Foresters (MI SAF) meeting in Marquette, Michigan. The meeting convened a diverse group of forestry and natural resource professionals from across the state to network and share meaningful updates regarding current and emerging research, projects, policies, challenges, and opportunities relevant to forestry actors and stakeholders throughout Michigan.
The fall meeting featured a variety of speakers representing diverse forestry sectors including academia and research, forest certification, K-12 forestry education, public land management, and non-profit organizations. Presentation topics were equally diverse, and included discussions related to state-level forest utilization and markets, outreach and education, economics and ecology, and management and protection.
Gadoth had the opportunity to participate in a walking field tour of downtown Marquette’s urban forest hosted by Marquette City forester Dan Carter and the Michigan DNR’s Lawrence Sobson. Gadoth currently serves on the Michigan SAF board as Education Fund Chair.
