2023 Young Vets Camp Day 1
Another day, another fun camp!
Another day, another fun camp!
Campers are excited to learn all about animals this week! To start off the week, campers did some tie dye that they can wear on Friday. Then our Assistant Coordinator, Miranda or their EDU Leader took each pepper group on wagon ride. These two activities are a weekly thing each Monday!
Garden Kitchen: Fruit Pizza & Homemade Ranch
It’s snack time!! Campers love the snacks they make. This morning, they made fruit pizza with graham crackers, cream cheese, honey topped with fruit. Homemade ranch was a hit in the afternoon! At the end of the week campers will get a recipe book of everything they made this week.
Animal Chores
Campers love love collecting duck eggs, playing with the bunnies, spending time with chickens and milking our goats. It teaches them how to care for animals on a farm. They do them every day!
Vitals are Vital
This activity is all about learning how to care for animals. Doctors take their vitals to make sure they’re healthy! Campers split up into groups of two then checked for their pulse and their partners.
STEAM: Project Five Freedoms
The five freedoms are standards of animal welfare, created to make sure all animals are treated in a humane way. The freedoms do vary from animal to animal! Campers are going to learn about influential figures in animal welfare, creation solutions and more. Then they got creative
Bacteria Tag/ Casting practice
Tag came back this week as an activity. Campers played a version of freeze tag called the bacteria game. Two campers were either bacteria or a vaccine then the bacteria had to tag the other campers. The vaccine can unfreeze campers! Stewards EDU Leaders joined in on the fun as well, campers had a blast!!
Every week, campers learn how to fish. They start off practicing casting before they do it for real tomorrow!
