2023 Young Vet Camp Day 3
Campers are having a blast!
Welcome to day three!
FAMACHA Eye Testing
It’s important to make sure our goats are healthy. If they’re anemic that could be fatal. Our campers check the goat’s eyes to check if they’re healthy. We make sure the part under their eye is red, not white. Thankfully, our goats are healthy!
Super Sutures
Our young vets learned how to put a bandage on an animal. Today campers learned how to do stiches on an animal if they’re injured. They learned the importance of stiches and how it helps us heal.
Garden Kitchen: Cream of Wheat and Mexican Bean Salsa
As always, Garden Kitchen is a perfect break from the sun and allowing campers to get a snack. Cream of Wheat is a hot cereal/oatmeal that can be served with fruit and maple syrup. Mexican Bean Salsa was a perfect snack for the hot afternoon.
Sheep Herding
This was a fun activity as campers learned how to heard sheep. Our Stewards and SIT’s attempted this during our overnight training, they were pretty successful! Ellen R taught this activity and helped campers make a fence to move the sheep around their field.
STEAM: Five Freedoms, working on projects
It was fun to see how creative campers got with their projects. Some used cardboard, a milk jug, tape, and more to bring their drawings they did on Monday to life!
Predator Vs. Prey
Off to the forest we go! Campers got split up into groups of omnivores, herbivores and carnivores. It was a game of tag where the carnivores had to collect coins from their prey.
