2023 Western Riding Horse Camp Day 2
Campers are having so much fun!
Welcome to day 2!
Pool Noddle Horse
Arts and crafts time! Campers learned how to make a horse from pool noodles, and they pretended like they were riding a horse. Practicing turns, stops and more.
Animal Chores
Campers went over to our animal barn to care for our ducks and chickens. Their Steward Rachel let them hold a duck too!
Garden Kitchen: fruit salsa and popcorn
As a healthy snack this morning for Garden Kitchen they made a fruit salsa. Campers were shown how to safely cut all the fruit used with a safety knife that isn’t super sharp. In the afternoon, they had popcorn as a quick, simple snack.
Colors and markings
Campers were given two sheets one to learn all about horses and another where you can color the making of a horse. They colored, told horse jokes and had a blast!
Horse time
More time to ride our horses! There were cones put out around the arena for everyone to practice turns. It’s their favorite time of the day because they get to see Sedona and Grizz!
Pretending to be a horse
In the afternoon, campers were pretending to be a horse and going through an obstacle course with a guide helping them. They experienced how horses see which a lot of them thought it was easy!
Farm Map
This is a new activity that they’re doing this year! They were given a big sheet of paper to draw about 10 acers for a farm to add to the barns, a pasture, horses and a field.
