2023 Earth Engineers Day 5
Happy Friday!!
Build a boat
We used recycled materials to demonstrate how boats float on water. They learned the characteristics of making a boat float and what materials we can use for the boat. Campers got creative with their boat designs.
Marshmallow bridge
With the use of toothpicks and marshmallows, campers had to build a bridge. They got super creative with how they built it so the bridge wouldn’t fall over, and it was sturdy like a real bridge.
Forest visit
Off to the forest we go! Campers made their way out to the forest finding things around them to match the color painted in an egg carton. Then they were given notebooks to draw what they saw near the bridge. All of them activated their “fox walk” to be silent as possible.
Animal time
Campers did their last animal chores this week! They went and played with the cute baby goats, some wanted to eat their pants and hats. The kids love hanging out with the animals.
STEAM Hurricane House Testing
Our hurricane houses got tested today to see if they could survive a hurricane! Hurricane Jared tested each out with the blower and then sprayed it with water. Some houses did survive, others didn’t. The kids had so much fun!
Garden Kitchen: Pizza hummus
Yeah heard that right! Pizza hummus! It was loved by all the campers today. Some pepper groups added a ton of garlic cloves to it. Garlic has been popular this week!
Web of Connections
Everything in our planet is connected one way or another. Campers drew a web of all the animals, plants, etc. that are connected in the web of life. It was fun to see the creativity from everyone!
Skits
Every Friday campers do a skit/song to show their parents what they’ve learned this week. A popular skit was demonstrating the hurricane houses. Our amazing green peppers did a camp song they love to sing! It’s so cute to see what they come up with for their skit/song each week.
This week was so fun with our Earth Engineers. The days were very hot and sunny but that didn’t stop campers from having a blast! Have an amazing weekend, see you all on Monday.
