Part-time Woodworker

The Department of Forestry at Michigan State University is seeking a part-time (on-call) Woodworker (Trades Aide) to assist with crafting objects for display or sale as requested (e.g., coasters, plaques, etc.).  All tools will be provided.

Qualifications

  • Experience in woodworking or finish carpentry
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record may be required

Compensation

Starting wage is $20/hour, commensurate with experience, up to 19 hours per week. 

Time Frame

The woodworker will work on an as-needed basis.

Working Conditions

The position will be based in the Natural Resources Building on MSU’s East Lansing, Michigan campus.  Conditions include standing, lifting less than 30-pounds, noise, and exposure to the sawdust and allergens as expected in a wood shop.  Personal protective equipment will be provided.
