On behalf of E&J Gallo Vineyards, we are reaching out to individual educators, administrators, and career coordinators to recruit students and recent graduates for a paid viticulture internship opportunity.
Our viticulture interns get hands-on experience to put into practice all that they have learned in their horticulture, agriculture, plant science, and life science classes. Our program has helped introduce future agriculture professionals to winegrape production in the coastal regions of California and we hope to continue recruiting a diverse group of students with a variety of backgrounds.

COASTAL VITICULTURE INTERNSHIP
Length: 6 months
Multiple Locations in California:
• Sonoma County
• Napa County & Surrounding Areas
• San Luis Obispo County & Surrounding Areas
Start Date: April to July
End Date: November to December
Interviews: Begin Mid-January
Preferred Majors: Horticulture, Agriculture, Plant Science, Biology, Geology, and Soil Science
What you'll do:
Interns will support the many different areas of our Winegrowing Operations including general viticulture, trellis design, irrigation management, pest control, tractor and spray operations, new equipment development and cultural operations. Some of the intern’s essential functions could include some of the following:
• Assist with crop estimations, phenology data collection and irrigation practices.
• Assist with harvest activities including maturity sampling, harvest equipment preparation and quality control of mechanically and hand-harvested fruit.
• Participate in pest and disease scouting and help draft treatment thresholds for specific pests.
• Design and construct an innovative trellis system.
• Use GPS technology and the Geographical Information System to implement precision farming and map vineyard infrastructure.
• Assist with the design, layout, and planting of a new vineyard block.
