MLFCN June Monthly Meeting

June 20, 2024 10:00AM - 11:30AM

Join the Michigan Local Food Council Network for our monthly phone/video conference, featuring topics and speakers relevant to the work of councils across the state. We will share federal and state legislative updates and include time to discuss offers, requests and connections among councils.

The topic is “Land Access and Stewardship in the state of Michigan.” You will need a password to join the meeting – see below!

Our network discussion will focus on land access and policy issues within the state of Michigan.  We will host Julius Buzzard, Executive Director of Growing Hope and member of the Washtenaw Black Farmers fund, and Alita Kelly, Alchemist and founder of Jade Rabbit Consulting as well as cofounder of the West Michigan BIPOC Famer Land Fund.  They both will share updates on the land funds and how the land funds are moving forward to uplift stewardship and land access within their communities.  We may also have a guest speaker from the Detroit Farmer Land Fund joining us as well.

We look forward to a great ongoing discussion within our network in understanding land stewardship and land access within the state.

The call will also include state and federal legislative updates and conclude with offers, requests, and connections.

Please let Keesa (johns253@msu.edu), Kolia (ksouza@msu.edu) or Jordan (lindsa57@msu.edu) know if there are topics you want to discuss on future calls.
