Join us for the Michigan Farm to Institution Network's first virtual network meeting of the year!
On April 9 from 1-2pm EST, this meeting will focus on how institutions can leverage their purchasing power to help advance sustainability in their food service programs. Strategies such as incorporating values-based standards, metrics, and/or requirements into food procurement contracts can help institutions reach their goals and track their progress.
In this upcoming meeting, we will learn from the University of Michigan team about their work with sustainable procurement and contract language in their dining services. Following the presentation, we will hear from a panel of experts across Michigan who are working to advance sustainability in institutional food service and across the supply chain.
Panelists include:
- Keith Soster of University of Michigan
- Amy Gautraud of Gordon Food Service
- Tom LaGrasso of LaGrasso Bros. Produce
- Dale Lesser of Lesser Farms and Orchard
There will be time for questions after the panel.
This virtual meeting is designed for food program managers, buyers, and staff from institutions such as universities, hospitals, or schools who are interested in incorporating sustainability into their food procurement. Farmers, food suppliers, and other food systems partners can also benefit by learning more about the unique aspects of sustainable procurement and successful vendor relationships.
