4-H Adventure Camp

ABOUT CAMP:
4-H Adventure Camp is a 3 day/2 night overnight camp experience for youth ages 9-14.
Camp will take place at Camp Neyati in Clare, MI. Youth will experience a wide range of outdoor activities in a safe and supportive environment that will teach them new skills, stretch their comfort levels, and build friendships. Camp is a place where youth from all backgrounds come together to build community and make new friendships, grow future leaders, and have fun!
Camp Neyati is located on Crooked Lake. Campers participate in a variety of adventure activities like boating, swimming, archery, hiking, biking, outdoor survival skills, nature crafts, camp challenges, and more!

DATES:
Sunday, June 23 – Tuesday June 25, 2024
TIMES:
- June 23 - Check In/Arrival: 4:30pm-6:00pm. All campers must be signed IN by 6:00pm.
- June 25 - Check Out/Departure: 4:30pm-6:00pm. All campers must be signed OUT by 6:00pm.
AGES:
Camp is open to youth ages 9-14 (as of January 1st).
4-H MEMBERSHIP:
Saginaw or Bay County 4-H membership is required to attend camp. See details below to learn how to register.
COST:
- $75 per camper.
- Includes camp t-shirt.
- NO refunds will be issued after June 3, 2024.
- If paying by cash or check, payment must be received at the 4-H office by May 15, 2024 for registration to be complete.
PAYMENT:
- Registration is NOT complete without payment.

MORE ABOUT CAMP:
Note – Parents/guardians are responsible for information in the parent letter/camp orientation. This information will be available at a minimum of 3 weeks prior to the camp dates.
CAMP CLOSED TO PUBLIC:
4-H Adventure camp is a CLOSED camp. Camp is only open to registered campers, MSU Extension staff, and approved 4-H gold-level volunteers. Family members or others may only enter camp with approval from the camp director(s).
SUPERVISION:
Campers will be supervised by screened and approved 4-H Gold-Level volunteers and MSU Extension 4-H staff. Youth will follow an activity schedule and will always be accompanied by 4-H volunteers and MSU Extension staff.
SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS:
Youth will be housed in cabins that sleep up to 12 youth. A minimum of 2 approved 4-H gold level volunteers/or MSU Extension staff will be housed in every cabin. Youth will be organized in cabins by age and in alignment with their gender identity. Parents/Guardians MUST complete the “Consent to Stay Overnight at Michigan 4-H Event with Participants and Volunteers Age 18 and Older” to attend camp.
ROOMATE REQUESTS:
Youth may indicate roommate requests when registering. Requests are not guaranteed.
HEALTH OFFICER:
A designated health officer will always be on site to ensure the health and safety of every camp. The health officer will collect and distribute medication.
MEDICATION PROCESS:
All medications (prescription and over-the-counter) must be given to the health officer at check-in for dispensing at the designated times. All medications including over-the-counter, must be in the original container with the printed label from the pharmacy. Parents/Guardians must grant permission for their child to take specific over-the-counter medications as needed for staff/volunteers to administer.

- MUST complete an authorization form for each youth requiring prescription or over-the counter medication during camp.
- MUST bring the Authorization for Administering Medication form and each of the medications to the site and stay until the transfer is complete.

WATERFRONT ACTIVITIES:
Camp activities will include swimming and kayaking. A lifeguard will be present at all waterfront activities including aquatic observers.
Swimmers MUST pass a swim test and receive a wrist band to swim in the deep end of the swimming area and to kayak.
Kayaking – will be taught by a certified ACA (American Canoe Association) instructor and 4-H gold-level volunteers and MSU Extension Staff. Youth may be in their own kayak or with an adult depending on comfort level and ability.
KAYAKERS
- MUST wear a lifejacket
- MUST pass a swim test
- MUST wear a wrist band
- Will receive safety instruction on shore prior to going out on the lake.
CELL PHONES:
Cell phones are strongly discouraged at camp. The expectation is for phones to not be used during camp activities. MSU Extension, Michigan 4-H, and Michigan State University are not responsible for loss or damage to personal items.

Parents/Guardians are responsible for information presented at camp orientation and in the parent letter that will be mailed to each registered camper. Camp Orientation is required for all participants. Zoom information will be emailed to each registered camper.
