The Oceana Conservation District-Michigan Agriculture Environmental Assurance Program (MAEAP), Michigan State University Extension and Oceana County Farm Bureau collaborative field day team will showcase tools and techniques for understanding and managing irrigation, parasitic nematodes, soil quality and health, soil amendments, and silvopasture practices along with a discussion on how to evaluate profitability of practices using partial budgeting. Experts from Michigan State University, Oceana Conservation District, West Michigan Agroforestry Partnership, and Morgan Composting will be doing presentations and demonstrations indoors at the Research Building Conference Center and out in the Research Center's asparagus plots, apple and sweet cherry blocks (transportation available).

Highlights: The first demonstration of the new FarmDroid! The FarmDroid is a fully automatic field robot. It is an autonomous seeder and weeder that uses solar energy and GPS to plant vegetable seeds and mechanically weed during the growing season. In addition, Morgan Composting will demonstrate soil amendment applications on-site. Click on the registration website for a full agenda for the field day.
