A Message From the MSU Dairy Store
Business and economic disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic have unfortunately caused us to pause operations at the MSU Dairy Plant and Store at this time, despite concerted efforts by MSU Dairy Plant and Store staff. And, with the recent move to remote learning, we realize that fall sales will continue to decline. We will pause operations effective Sept. 14, 2020.
To accommodate the responsibility we carry to prepare the dairy plant for indefinite shutdown, we will have modified store hours. We will be open Wednesday through Friday 2 p.m.- 6pm.
Michigan’s dairy industry is one of our strongest supporters, and our ability to sustain operations that meet our teaching, research and outreach missions has not changed. However, it has become financially untenable to continue to operate the retail and wholesale operations of the MSU Dairy Store during the COVID-19 pandemic.
We will continue curbside sales until Sept. 14, 2020. Wholesale sales will continue as supplies last.
As many have already come to understand, quickly, repercussions from the COVID-19 pandemic stretch far and wide. This one, however, hits close to home. We understand that the MSU Dairy Plant and Store are a sentimental experience — and that’s why we need to pause it now, to preserve it.
This decision has weighed heavily on us all. It is our intention to reopen the MSU Dairy Plant and Store, in some fashion, when economic conditions permit us to do so in a sustainable manner.
Thanks you for all of your support in this difficult time. See you soon, Spartans!
