About ANR Awards
Each year the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources recognizes outstanding individuals for their contributions to MSU, CANR, the community, state and nation with the ANR Week Awards which include the CANR Alumni Association Awards and the CANR Distinguished Service Awards.
These awards are presented during ANR Week which is scheduled each March.
Nominations are due Oct. 31, 2024.

CANR Dean Awards
CANR Dean's Pinnacle of Excellence Award
The Dean's Pinnacle of Excellence Award is presented to alumni who have obtained the pinnacle of achievement in their field and brought distinction to the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources. Created in 2023, this award is the highest accolade awarded by the dean.
CANR Distinguished Service Awards
The Distinguished Service Awards honor individuals or partners who have made outstanding contributions to Michigan’s agriculture and natural resources industries and who possess high standards of integrity and character to positively reflect and enhance the prestige of the college. These individuals demonstrate a commitment to Michigan State University and the CANR by continuing outstanding volunteerism and leadership on behalf of or in conjunction with the university on a local, state, national or international level. As many as three of these prestigious awards are presented annually during ANR Month (formerly ANR Week).
CANR Alumni Association Awards
Alumni Service Award
The CANR Alumni Service Award selection is made from candidates who have demonstrated continuing outstanding volunteer service to MSU, the CANR or meritorious public service on a local, state, national or international level. Candidates must possess the highest standards of integrity and character to positively reflect and enhance the prestige of the CANR.
Distinguished Faculty Award
Distinguished Faculty Awards recognize faculty members who have brought distinction to the CANR through teaching, research and/or outreach and provided leadership that has helped students, faculty members and/or citizens reach their potential for excellence.
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Alumni Award
The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Alumni Award recognizes alumni for their professional accomplishments, service and contributions in the areas of diversity, equity and inclusion to the CANR, their field and community.
Honorary Alumni Award
The Honorary Alumni Award is given to someone who has made a distinctive contribution to the CANR on a state, national or international level; has relieved the suffering of disadvantaged people; or contributed to any unique program that benefits humankind.
Outstanding Alumni Award
CANR Outstanding Alumni are given to those who have distinguished themselves by obtaining the highest level of professional accomplishments, and who possess the highest standards of integrity and character.
Outstanding Up and Coming Alumni Award
The Outstanding Up and Coming Alumni Award honors individuals who have distinguished themselves by obtaining a high level of professional accomplishment and who possess high standards of integrity and character to positively reflect and enhance the prestige of the CANR within 15 years of graduation.
Farm Lane Society
The Farm Lane Society honors individuals who have demonstrated a commitment to the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources as a CANR Alumni Association Board member or have brought honor to the college as a notable recipient of a CANR Alumni Association Award or the CANR Distinguished Service Award and to foster their continuing involvement in the College and Alumni Association.
