Genus Paraxonchium Krall, 1958
“Diagnosis: Body robust, 0.5-2.5 mm long, narrowing abruptly from level of nerve ring to a very small knob-like lip region. Odontostyle symmetrical or asymmetrical; odontophore simple, usually very long. Esophagus entirely muscular, anterior slender part expanding gradually into basal enlarged part. Cardia with three cardiac gland cells. Vulva transverse. Female reproductive system amphidelphic or monodelphic. Spicules dorylaimoid; lateral guiding pieces and ventromedian supplements present. Tail usually conoid to subdigitate; similar in sexes. Type species: Paraxonchium leptocephalus (Altherr, 1954) Altherr & Loof, 1969
